Volunteering in Costa Rica is a common and enjoyable way for travelers to spend some time in the beautiful country of Costa Rica.
All across the country there are organic farms that open their doors for travelers who are interested in staying and working on a farm during their time in Costa Rica. The WWOOF (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) organization connects travelers looking to have this experience with the various volunteer programs throughout the country.
WWOOF’s website offers both a social media platform where you can connect with other WWOOF’ers who share their experiences of their stays on these farms. You can also sign up for the yearly membership ($16) in which WWOOF will send you all the details and contact information needed to connect with these organic farmers who are looking for volunteers.
A typical commitment from a volunteer is 5 to 6 hours per day – 5 to 6 days per week. You will get hands on experience while working in the various areas of the farm. The rest of your time is free to explore and enjoy all that Costa Rica has to offer.
