Includes your choice of adventure tour:
Forest Canopy Zip Line Tour: This tour is offered at either the Congo Trail or at Cartagena. Fly through the tree tops and experience the various levels of the canopy as you swing/glide from tree to tree. The adventure takes you flying from platform to platform on steel cables suspended in the heights of the tropical dry forest. Only top-of-the-line pulleys and climbing gear are used. Expert tour guides catch you at each platform, making for a canopy adventure that’s high in adrenaline, not stress. This forest is home to an incredible number of howler monkeys (called congos in Spanish). Tropical birds, iguanas and other small mammals are easily seen from the treetops. Panoramic views of the forest and neighbor beaches are stunning from most platforms.
Vida Adventure Nature Park: Combine excitement and tranquility in one day! Soar across seven canopy ziplines through a forested canyon before horseback riding over hillside trails. You’ll catch views of two active volcanoes, Miravalles and Rincon de la Vieja, followed by a mineral mud bath and a dip into a hot springs pool to wash it all away! Experience adventure and feel your adrenaline rush as you fly over a breath taking tropical forest canopy. As you soar through the air, you will view the incredible sights of the dry tropics along with impressive views of the ancient lava canyons and the magnificent Rincon de la Vieja and Miravalles volcanoes. Ride through our tropical forest on your horseback riding tour and walk through an active volcano crater. Live an exciting, exhilarating, totally unique experience plummeting though the middle of a dry, tropical forest on a thrill packed water slide. Hungry; savor a delicious traditional Costa Rican cuisine! Taste the natural flavors of authentic regional products, grown and harvested in the fertile lands of Guanacaste. After so much excitement and fun, wearing a bathing suit, lather the soft volcanic mud on your skin and face, making a natural mineral mask, and lay out comfortably until it dries in the sun. Finally, dip into a geothermal pool, washing away the clay and soothing any sore muscles as you relax more deeply into the hot springs.
Rincon de la Vieja Tour: Rincon de la Vieja, meaning “The Old Woman’s Corner,” is named after the legend of a local woman whose father threw her lover into the volcano’s crater. Mourning her lost love, she became a recluse on the mountaintop, developing healing and restorative powers. Today, the one million-year old volcano continues to heal and restore; its hot springs are said to alleviate aches and pains that stump even the most modern medicinal cures. Rincon de la Vieja Volcano is the third most active of Costa Rica’s seven active volcanoes. Despite this fact, the volcano is considered only gently active, spewing ash and steam infrequently. On a 2 hour hike, you will see the energy that this sleeping giant liberates. Bubbling water lagoons, steamy sulphur water ponds, little mud volcanoes, gases and more are enough to understand this is an active volcano. Rincón de la Vieja National Park is home to more than 300 species of birds (including the quetzal), and numerous reptiles, amphibians and mammals (including kinkajous, tapits, monkeys and jaguars).Mammals found here include peccaries, coatis, skunks and of course monkeys (white-faced and howler), 2-toed sloths, armadillos and anteaters. The park also has probably one of the largest populations of the national flower of Costa Rica, the orchid ‘Guaria Morada’.
Arenal Area Volcano and Hot Springs Tour: Sit back and enjoy a scenic ride from Guanacaste to Arenal where you will begin you adventure passing through dry forest and transition into a rain forest. A short walk will introduce you to the interactions of the rain forest. Head to a safe viewing area to experience the thundering volcano – one of the most active in the Western Hemisphere. Learn about the geological complexity of the 5,000-foot (1,524-meter) giant as you take in the views of Guanacaste’s green hillsides. Take a short hike in one of the trails close to the volcano and enjoy some forest and the activity around it. You’ll learn about this unique ecosystem of Costa Rica, a country that includes six percent of the world’s biodiversity. After your hike, it’s time to relax and enjoy a complimentary lunch. Then rejuvenate yourself with a healthy and relaxing soak in a mineral pool and hot spring created by the volcano itself. At night enjoy a delicious dinner before heading back to Guanacaste.
Monteverde Cloud Forest Tour: Entering the spectacular Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve feels like walking in a grandiose green Cathedral. Wind-sculptured elfin woodlands on the exposed ridges are spectacularly dwarfed, whereas protected cove Monteverde rainforests have majestically tall trees festooned with orchids, bromeliads, ferns, vines, and mosses. Experience yourself at this place with the different levels of the forest walking over bridges as we visit the Sky Walk. Sky Walk is a guided tour, which combines trails and suspension bridges with lengths of even 984 feet and heights above the canopy of Monteverde cloud forest. After lunch we will visit the butterfly farm. The Monteverde Butterfly Garden is one of the area’s original and most visited attractions. Situated in Cerro Plano, between the town of Santa Elena and the Monteverde Reserve, the Mariposario offers a biodiversity center, medicinal plant garden, live leaf cutter ant colony, in addition to four climate-controlled butterfly gardens where visitors can observe some of the most beautiful and fascinating insects in the Tropics.
Your package also includes roundtrip transfers from Liberia airport to your hotel.
